The Supreme Court has refused to put a stay on the appointment of Lieutenant General Dalbir Singh Suhag as the next army chief.
Hearing a plea filed by Lieutenant General Ravi Dastane, who had alleged favouritism in the selection of Lt. Gen. Suhag as the next Army Chief, the apex court said there is no urgency to stay the appointment.
A bench headed by Justice T S Thakur said, "There is no reason why should we stay."
The apex court's decision clears the decks for Lt. Gen Suhaag to take over as the next army chief from General Bikram Singh on August 1.
