The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to entertain a woman's plea to abort her 26-week old foetus, suffering from 'down syndrome'.
The apex court passed the order after taking into record the fact that the report of medical experts suggested there is no danger to the life of baby and mother if the pregnancy would be continued.
A two-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice S.A. Bobde and Justice L. Nageswara Rao, passed the interim order after hearing the plea from the woman who sought the apex court's intervention for a direction to abort her pregnancy.
