The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its order on the petition filed by former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal seeking quashing of charges against him in a sexual assault case.
A three-judge bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra and comprising Justices M R Shah and B R Gavai reserved its order on framing of charges against the veteran journalist.
Tejpal was arrested on November 30 in 2013 on accusations of sexually assaulting a female colleague.
In September 2017, a trial court in Goa charged him under sections 376(2) (rape), 354 A (sexual harassment) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Tejpal, had, however, claimed innocence and pleaded not guilty. He is currently out on bail.
Following this, he had moved the apex court challenging the charges levelled against by the trial court.
