Scotland cricket team all-rounder Majid Haq's racial tweet has resulted in his being thrown out of the ongoing World Cup after he was dropped from Wednesday's match against Sri Lanka in Hobart.

Haq, who is Scotland's leading ODI bowler with 60 wickets and three half-tons to his name, had played in his team's four previous matches taking just three wickets and making a top-score of 31 against Afghanistan, the BBC reported.

The Pakistani decent all-rounder tweeted that it is always tougher when one is in the minority, adding '#colour #race' to his tweet. The post was later deleted.

A statement from the Scottish board said that following a breach of Cricket Scotland's internal code of conduct, international team member, Haq, is travelling home from the ICC World Cup, adding that no further statement would be issued until internal processes have been completed in due course.

Scotland, who have lost all their five matches so far, play Australia in their last league match in Hobart on Saturday, the report added.
