New South Wales pace bowler Sean Abbott has returned to cricket, with bowling a bouncer in his first over at SCG following tragic demise of late cricketer Phillip Hughes.

Abbott bowled a short pitched delivery in the fifth delivery of his first over to Queensland batsman Joe Burns, which was applauded by the spectators. Abbott subsequently claimed the wicket of Nathan Reardon, News.com.au reported.

Abbott bowled his first over since the tragic demise of Phillip Hughes, with fifth ball being a bouncer.

Sean Abbott received widespread support from the cricketing fraternity, in view of his bouncer delivery that hit Australian batsman Phillip Hughes on the neck, who later succumbed to injuries.

The 25-year-old South Australian batsman, who was pushing for a Test recall against India in Brisbane next week, was knocked out after the ball made impact under his helmet, behind his left ear.
