Second phase of Odisha budget session to begin today

The second and last phase of the budget session of the Odisha Assembly will begin today. The session is scheduled to continue till May20.

The session is set to be a stormy one with opposition parties deciding to raise several issues, including the alleged involvement of a ruling minister in the chit fund scam, failure of government to tackle drought situation and acute water scarcity all over the state.

There are charges against minister of state for food supplies and consumer welfare Sanjay Dasburma for his alleged links with scam tainted chit fund company Artha Tatwa (AT) Group.

According to sources,the Standing Committee reports will be tabled today, while budget proposals of 14 departments will be discussed from tomorrow.

Besides, a proposal for a regular budget for the remaining 10 months would be tabled in the House.

In the first phase of the budget session which took place from March 15 to 31, the house had passed an Appropriation Bill for two months.
