The United States Secret Service has reportedly arrested a woman, carrying a gun, outside the White House just a day after they arrested a man for carrying a rifle and ammunition in his car parked close to the presidential residence.
A Secret Service spokesman said that the suspect, April Lenhart, was walking along the north fence on Pennsylvania Avenue around evening when the agents saw that she had a gun in a holster around her waist, reported CBS News.
The 23-year-old was carrying a 9mm handgun and was immediately taken into custody without incident.
She faces charges of possessing an unregistered forearm. Another person who was with her at the time has not been arrested.
The latest incident followed a series of security breaches at the White House recently that resulted in the resignation of the agency's Director, Julia Pierson, and a rejig of the agency's protocol.
