The security forces had yesterday arrested four cadres of separatist militant outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in Assam.
Based on intelligence about presence of militants in Kokrajhar district, a joint team of army and police launched a search operation.
During the four-hour long operation, four rebels were apprehended, who were identified as Monelal Brahma, Amit Khaklari, Sumbu Basumatary and Rajib Narzary. They also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from them.
"When the operation got over, we were able to arrest four NDFB cadres successfully and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from them, including two pistols, one revolver, one AK-47 rifle and country-made guns," said Additional Director General of Police, L.R. Bishnoi.
The arrested were locally trained cadres and were actively involved in extortion, added Bishnoi.
The NDFB is a separatist organisation which seeks to establish a separate state for Bodo tribe members staying in Assam.
