Security forces have arrested a Maoist zonal commander in a major offensive against the left wing extremists in Jharkhand.
According to reports, the arrested rebel chief has been identified as Madan Rai and a country-made pistol and live cartridges were seized from his possession.
"We have recovered a police rifle, 32 bullets and some belongings from his possession," said Superintendent of Police, Kranti Kumar added.
Security forces and the police have reportedly launched an 'all-out operation' against People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a breakaway faction of the CPI (Maoist) and the second largest extremist outfit in Jharkhand.
The forces are raiding hideouts in the Gumla, Simdega, Ranchi and Singhbhum districts of the rebel outfits' hotbed.
