Security has been strengthened in Jammu and Kashmir in view of U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to India for the Republic Day celebrations.
Inspector General of the paramilitary Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF), S.K. Bhandari, said the force is taking extra measures to ensure fool-proof security.
Bhandari feared an increase in infiltration bids in the state ahead of the high-profile visit.
"We have strengthened the security grid since threat is expected more because of the high profile visit. Therefore, extra forces are deployed for fortifying the security arrangements," he said.
The paramilitary personnel will be on their toes on Republic Day.
"Special security arrangements are being made for 26 January," said Bhandari.
The entire country has been put on alert ahead of Obama's visit. He will become the first U.S. President to grace the Republic Day celebrations at Rajpath, New Delhi.
