Security was tightened in Trilokpuri and Bawana area's of Delhi on the occasion of Muharram on Tuesday.
Along with the local police, Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were also seen on patrol in Trilokpuri.
Similarly, in Bawana also strict security arrangements were made afterthe Mahapanchayat had on Sunday raised worries about communal clashes that might flare up.
However, the local residents said that its the first time that such arrangements have been made due to rumors of clashes but added that as of now everything is going on very peacefully.
The measures have been taken in the wake of last week's communal clashes in the area which had left five injured including two teenagers.
Since 1989, Muharram processions have been banned in Srinagar after a pro-independence revolt started in Kashmir.
Only small mourning rallies and processions are allowed in selected areas with limited Shi'ite populations. Every year, Muslims mourn the tragedy of Karbala during the holy month of Muharram.
