Former Pakistan Test cricketer and chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu has backed skipper Misbah-ul-Haq to stage a strong comeback after his team incurred two back-to-back World Cup defeats against India and the West Indies.

Lauding Misbah for his open admission about Pakistan's failure, Sallu said that he felt Misbah had made a sensible statement about the team performance where he had not tried hiding behind excuses, the Dawn reported.

The chief selector admitted that it was indeed a do-or-die situation for Pakistan then and their boys must put their act together to win the next four games or it would be tough making the quarters.

Pakistan suffered a humiliating 150-run defeat against the West Indies at Hagley Oval on Saturday after Misbah's men were thrashed by defending champions India in their opening game last week.

Sallu further said that if the defeats kept haunting their players, they would never be able to regroup and win, adding that it was very sensible of Misbah to ask the team to pick itself, both mentally and skill-wise, for the remaining four games.
