The market has opened higher as the Sensex has surged 58.13 points at 26227.54.
Nifty on the other hand is up 12.90 points trading at 7967.80.
GAIL, Vedanta, Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto and Coal India are top gainers in the Sensex while Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, Hero and Infosys are among losers.
The Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 66.52 per dollar against previous closing 66.49.
The dollar fell as a contraction in US manufacturing PMI and upbeat European economic data knocked the greenback from eight and a half-month highs against a basket of major currencies.
