Bangalore Police have arrested KRK Reddy, General Secretary of the Goutham Academy of General and Technical Education Society, which runs the private school where a three-year-old girl was sexually abused, on cheating charges.
According to reports, Reddy was arrested after the Department of Public Instruction filed a complaint that the school was run without proper certification from the state government or Centre.
A case of fraud was registered against the school on Friday as the educational institution had no record to prove that it was affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had yesterday instructed the police officials to initiate prompt action against the school management.
A three-year-old LKG student was allegedly sexually abused by her teacher inside the school premises earlier this week.
The incident, which saw protests by angry parents, occurred barely three months after a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two gym instructors inside the premises of another private school in Bangalore on July 3.
Bangalore Police had earlier on Thursday detained a suspect for interrogation although no one has been arrested on sexual abuse charges yet.
