Shahbaz Sharif calls on Manmohan Singh, discuss bilateral ties(Update/Shahbaz Sharif)

The chief minister of Pakistan's Punjab Province, Shahbaz Sharif, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Thursday, and exchanged views on relations between the two nations.

"He (Manmohan Singh) talked about encouraging talks between India and Pakistan. We also discussed other issues. We talked about resolving our differences like good neighbours," said Sharif.

He further stated that the talks focused on promoting peace, trade and employment between the two countries.

Sharif also enjoyed a ride on the Delhi Metro. He boarded the train from the Patel Chowk metro station. He lauded Delhi Metro for making commuting easier.

Sharif is also expected to meet Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma during his visit.

Aiming to solve the power situation in his state, Sharif would also be touring a Solid Waste Management Project and the New Delhi Mahatma Gandhi Thermal Power Plant.

He is also slated to visit several cities in Indian Punjab.

Tensions have been prevailing between the two nations after regular violations of 2003 ceasefire agreement by Pakistan in Kashmir since August this year.
