'Shakespeare in Love' helmer John Madden to head Mumbai Film Festival jury

Academy-award nominated director John Madden is all set to be a part of the jury at this year's Mumbai Film festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Joining Madden on the Mumbai jury are Mexican cinematographer Alexis Zabe ('Silver Light'), Chinese-American actress Celina Jade ('Wolf Warriors 2'), Indian actress-director Konkona Sensharma ('Death in the Gunj') and Argentinian writer-director Santiago Mitre ('The Summit').

Madden, who received an Oscar nomination for best director for his helming of 1998 best picture winner 'Shakespeare in Love', recently directed the political thriller 'Miss Sloane' starring Jessica Chastain.

The festival will open with acclaimed Indian director Anurag Kashyap's boxing drama 'Mukkabaaz' (The Brawler), which just premiered in Toronto.

The closing film will be announced at a later date.

The international competition section, which features films from first-time directors, includes U.S documentary Quest by Jonathan Olshefski, Apostasy by Daniel Kokotajli (U.K.), Bad Lucky Goat by Samir Oliveros (Colombia), I Am Not a Witch by Rungano Nyoni (U.K.-France), Montparnasse Bienvenue (Jeune Femme) by Leonor Seraille (France), More (Daha) by Onur Saylak (Turkey), Most Beautiful Island by Ana Asensio (U.S.-Spain), Oh! Lucy by Atsuko Hirayanagi (U.S.-Japan), Oblivion Verses by Alireza Khatami (France/Germany/Netherlands/Chile), Scary Mother by Ana Urushadze (Georgia/Estonia), Summer 1993 by Carla Simon (Spain) and The Wound by John Trengove (South Africa).

The 19th Mumbai Film Festival runs October 12-18.
