The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), land owning agencies and the Delhi Police to convene a meeting within four weeks and evolve a protocol of procedure for any demolition in future.
The Delhi High Court's order comes less than two weeks after nearly 500 slums were demolished at Shakur Basti in a bid to curb encroachment along the railway tracks.
The demolition had left more than 2500 people homeless in the freezing cold and had also led to the death of an infant.
The demolition had been carried out at the behest of the Indian Railways.
The incident had drawn fury of the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government.
