Australian spin legend Shane Warne's son has surely taken after his father, as he grabbed a hat trick, 21 years after his father completed the rare feat against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Jackson Warne grabbed a hat trick for domestic side, Brighton Grammar, on Saturday with his father in attendance.
Shane tweeted Jackson's spell to his almost two million Twitter followers, posting that his son is on a 'Hattrick!!', then posted another tweet saying that Jackson did it, adding 'Hattrick, what a classic, now has 4 wickets in 5 balls', News.com.au reported.
Shane's effort at the MCG in 1994 was the first Ashes hat trick in 90 years. He had been wicketless for the innings as England, battling to save the Test, slumped to 6-91, and with the fourth ball of his 13th over, the legendary spinner had Phil DeFreitas trapped lbw.
Then Darren Gough edged the next through to Ian Healy, bringing bunny Devon Malcolm trudging to the crease.
Former Australia captain Mark Taylor said that the final wicket was typical Shane Warne, adding that as Malcolm came out to bat and Shane was on a hat-trick, he talked to the team about bowling a flipper or big leg spinner.
Taylor added that after leaving the team huddle Shane obviously changed his mind and went for the top spinner, claiming that he landed it perfectly, caught the gloves of Malcolm and it deflected to the leg side where David Boon took a superb one-handed diving catch.
