Congress leader Shashi Tharoor filed his nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency on Tuesday.
"It's our victory in Thiruvananthapuram. I have faithfully served the people for the last five years. They have seen my work, my commitment. I have been there for them on big and small issues. I have worked from Delhi for the people of Thiruvananthapuram," said Tharoor after filing his nomination.
"Our election should not be about religion and caste. But if people wish to play politics of identity over the politics of performance, then it will be a sorry day for Kerala. We are relatively thoughtful and well educated electorates. I believe they will be looking at my performance," he added.
He also said that the Congress Party and the UDF has members of every religion, caste and section of the society.
"For us, everybody belongs to us and to India. I have never discriminated on the basis of caste and religion," he said.
