Actor Michael Jace, who is best known for his role as a police officer in the TV series 'The Shield', was charged with murder in the shooting death of his wife case.
Police officials said that the 51-year-old actor, who during his brief appearance in court only spoke to confirm his arraignment to be delayed until a June 18 hearing, had called the emergency dispatcher and confessed to have shot his wife, ABC News reported.
He was at home when the police arrived, he added.
The actor's 40-year-old wife, who worked as a financial aid adviser at a private Christian school, was shot several times and found dead in the hallway of their Los Angeles home located in posh Hyde Park neighborhood.
Though the couple's two sons, who are aged under 10, were present during the attack, the police said it was uncertain if they had witnessed the crime.
The detective added that though there were no complaints of domestic violence, the actor had been under financial pressure in recent years, and that the detectives were investigating further to determine the cause.
The bail was set at 2 million dollars by the court and if the actor gets convicted, he could be facing 50 years to life in state prison.
