The Shiv Sena, in an editorial published in its mouthpiece 'Saamna', has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to focus on the atrocities being committed by Pakistan rather than politics in Maharashtra.
The editorial also said what was needed to protect the country was not a 56-inch chest but the will power to do so.
It further alleged that the Prime Minister was not giving this issue its due attention and was instead busy attending election rallies in Maharashtra ahead of the assembly polls.
In the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena are contesting elections separately as they have recently ended their 25-years old alliance as both parties failed to reach a seat-sharing agreement for polls in Maharashtra.
The Shiv Sena had offered 130 seats to the BJP, seven seats to four small allies to contest while keeping 151 seats for itself in the 288-member house.
However, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon said that such personal remarks are common in the run up to the elections.

"Well, what has been mentioned in 'Saamna' with regard to the chest of prime minister is, you know, like some kind of an immature expression. But during the peak time of electioneering, these things happen. People keep on making allegations personally against each other. But this should be, as far as possible, avoided and 'Saamna' is known for all these kinds of very satirical expressions," said Memon.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi, also questioned the Prime Minister for remaining silent on the crucial issue while Pakistan continues to attack India.
"It is a matter of utmost shame, it is a matter of utmost misfortune that a country like Pakistan, which is of no comparison to the identity, size and status of India is able to do the ceasefire violations at will, with impunity, complete and absolute impunity," Singhvi said.
However, the BJP said that the Indian army is giving a befitting reply to Pakistan for its act.
"The leader has changed, leadership has changed and the atmosphere of the country has changed. You won't be allowed to play with the blood of our country's civilians and certainly our paramilitary forces are doing a good job by giving them a befitting reply," said BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
At least, eight people have died and more than 50 have been left injured in the last three days in the indiscriminate shelling all along the International Border and LoC in Jammu region.
