The Shiv Sena on Monday alleged that separatist elements are gaining ground in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed becoming the chief minister of the state and demanded that a case of treason to be filed against him.
"Jammu and Kashmir is a sensitive area. Whatever is happening there is because of Pakistan. Even yesterday, Geelani met the Pakistan High Commissioner and spoke about Jammu and Kashmir. How did this happen all of a sudden? It happened after Mufti Mohammed Sayeed became the CM of the state, all those people have become very active. So, this not a political matter anymore, it is a serious matter pertaining to the country," Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told ANI.

"We take this very seriously, and in fact, are worried because, we are concerned about the nation. Uddhavji had said yesterday that helping terrorists and freeing them is against the interests of the nation. A case of treason should be filed against the person doing it, even if he or she is a chief minister. This is what even the people feel," he added.
Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani had a 45-minute dialogue with Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit earlier on Monday, where they discussed issues pertaining to Kashmir. Basit also apprised Geelani of Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar's recent visit to Pakistan.
This meeting came two days after separatist leader Masarat Alam was released by the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
In August 2014, a meeting between Basit and Geelani on eve of foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan meeting in Islamabad forced the government to cancel the event.
