Liverpool midfielder turned kit inventor Craig Johnston, who invented the Adidas Predator boot, has warned it will only be a matter of time before a big-name footballer sues the boot company that could be responsible for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's horrific head injury.
According to the Mirror, England striker Wayne Rooney is out for several weeks after suffering a horrific gash to his forehead in a clash in training with Manchester United teammate Phil Jones.
Liverpool hero Johnston insists he has already warned the major companies about the increasing dangers of blades, studs and soles on modern football boots, the report said.
Ex-Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson once banned his players from wearing boots with blades rather than studs in training, the report added.
Johnston said that the boots were dangerous and he believed the material was too hard that got sharpened on the ground, adding that the studs need to be softer and rounder.
Johnston, whose pioneering work on football boots made him a successful businessman, has also offered to help new FA chairman Greg Dyke and England boss Roy Hodgson in their battle to shake up the English game, the report further said.
