In what could be fresh trouble for former chief minister and Karnataka BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa, the Siddaramaiah-led Congress Government in the state has decided to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against his acquittal by the High Court in connection with the corruption cases registered against him.
The Karnataka Cabinet has decided to move the apex court against the High Court's verdict quashing 15 FIRs filed against Yeddyurappa.
The Karnataka High Court had earlier in January quashed all the criminal cases registered against Yeddyurappa for alleged illegal denotification of lands based on the report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
Yeddyurappa resigned as the chief minister after he and his family were strongly indicted by Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde in his report on illegal mining.
