Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Nath Singh today condemned the clash between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP workers in Kolkata, which allegedly left a BJP worker injured.

"TMC workers attacked our party workers today, manhandled a candidate, a member even got injured. The Election Commission (EC) had assured us that free and fair elections will be held here," Siddharth Nath Singh said at a press conference here.

Singh appealed to the voters of West Bengal to cast their vote against any other party except the TMC.

According to reports, Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP members reportedly clashed after an argument broke out between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chowrangi bypoll candidate Ritesh Tiwari and the election agents of TMC candidate Nayana Banerjee.

Tiwari was reportedly manhandled while he was holding a road show in his Chowrangi constituency.

The BJP leaders have also reportedly claimed that the clash took place in the presence of police personnel.

At least 10 BJP supporters were allegedly injured in the clash and a team of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) was also deployed to bring the situation under control.
