Australian pacer Peter Siddle, who spent almost three months treating his back and ankle problems, is confident and committed to regain his spot in the side's Test XI.

The 31-year-old, who retained his contract with Cricket Australia in April, suffered a stress fracture during his side's tour to New Zealand in February after which he also underwent an ankle surgery.

The injury saw him miss most of the New Zealand tour and also ruled him out of the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka, thus casting some doubt over his future in baggy green.

Despite injury, Siddle insisted that he is one of the best bowlers in the country and expressed confidence of being picked in the Test squad if he proves his fitness.

"I know when I'm fully fit that I'm probably going to be getting picked. When I'm at my best, I know I'm one of the better bowlers in the country and that's all I can work at," Siddle was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

Piddle, however, admitted that he went a bit careless with his injuries because he did not want to miss any opportunity to play for Australia

"Nothing was showing up (on scans) and so you just keep playing. I knew it wasn't quite right, but you never want to give up an opportunity to play for Australia," he added.
