Punjab cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot on Monday informed that the issue of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu's resignation was not raised during the cabinet meeting held earlier today.
"Punjab cabinet meeting was held. It was a normal meeting and no issue related to Navjot Singh Sidhu was raised," Dharamsot told reporters here after the meeting.
Sidhu, who holds the local bodies and tourism portfolios, had mocked Captain Amarinder Singh when reporters asked about his visit to Pakistan despite the Chief Minister disapproving it.
At a press conference in Hyderabad, the cricketer-turned-politician had said, "My captain is Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He sent me everywhere (Kartarpur corridor groundbreaking event). Rahul is also the captain of our captain (Punjab Chief Minister)."
Livid over Sidhu's remarks, Punjab Minister TR Bajwa asserted that if Sidhu did not recognise Amarinder as his 'captain,' then he should resign from his post.
Another Punjab Minister, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, had also slammed his Cabinet colleague and said that Sidhu should put down his papers if he disapproves of Amarinder as the state's chief minister.
