A Singapore Tourism Board video that was designed to promote the city-state to the Philippine market was recently removed from You Tube after it went viral for wrong reasons.
A Singapore social news and lifestyle website Mothership.sg pronounced it as "so bad it will go viral" and described it as "cringe-worthy".
The three-minute clip shows a young Filipino couple who displays amazement during their visit to several Singapore sights, including the iconic Marina Bay Sands casino and the Gardens by the Bay, News.com.au reported.
The video ends with the woman presenting the man with a gift box that turns out to contain a positive pregnancy test and says "I knew Singapore always had a surprise waiting for me!" her husband exclaims to which the woman replies with "Happy anniversary, honey", with cheesy music in the background.
The Singapore Tourism Board said that the video was produced for the Philippine market by Manila's ABS-CBN network in an effort to modify content for the audience.
The tourism board said that they subsequently removed it as it was not resonating well with the audiences and thanked the readers for their feedback on the video and asserted that some aspects of it could have been done better.
