Sir Paul McCartney pays 'emotional' tribute to late Cilla Black

The Beatles' star Paul McCartney is devastated by his close singer friend Cilla Black's death and took to a social website to pay her a tribute, posting an emotional message and calling her a "true legend".

The 'Blackbird' singer tweeted, "I just heard the news Cilla black has left us she was a good friend we will all miss her peace to Cilla peace and love to the family", the Mirror reported.

Previously in a statement, the 73-year-old singer had called the late English singer a "lovely girl" and recalled his first meeting with the star as a clock room girl, saying that even then she had a persona and great spirit that infected everyone and she used to carry a fun loving dignity that made her a great pleasure to be around.

He added that Black had a fine distinctive voice and was it was a privilege to know and love the late singer, who began her music career at Liverpool's famous Cavern Club.

Notably, Black's first single 'Love of The Loved' was with John Lennon and McCartney.

Meanwhile, late 'You're My World' singer's good friend Paul O'Grady also paid her a heartbreaking tribute and called her his "partner in crime," saying that after her death everyone here was like "all the fun has gone" and would surely "miss Cilla."

In addition to this, big shots like British Prime Minister David Cameron, celebrities Andi Peters, Andy Cohen, Sheridan Smith, Sir Bruce Forsyth and Cheryl joined the trail of tributes for Black, who died at her home near Marbella in Spain aged 72.
