Sir Tom Jones will be honoured with lifetime achievement award for his nearly 50 years in the music industry, at the forthcoming annual O2 Silver Clef Awards.

The veteran musician, who'll celebrate his 74th birthday on June 7, said that it's a great honour to be presented with this accolade, and a "real pleasure" to join the other tremendously gifted artists, Daily Express reported.

Emma Banks, the chairman of the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef committee, congratulated Sir Jones, adding that the event was special as they had the most varied range of talent, which certainly was the "best of British".

The singer, who scored his first number one 'It's Not Unusual' in 1965, had recently joined UK's version of 'The Voice' as a coach.
