Delhi Urban Development Minister, Manish Sisodia took a surprise inspection of the night shelters in the city to check the plight of the shivering poor.
"It is my responsibility as a minister, to take care of all these things and also to check how far the claims made by the government and higher officials are true or how the reality is different from what is conveyed to us," Sisodia said on Monday.
He has sent out 50,000 pamphlets across his constituency, asking people to approach him with their problems.
Sisodia has already met officials from several government departments, including health, education and PWD (Public Works Department).
During the inspections officials have been summoned to explain the situation and offer solution to problems.
Meanwhile, a local resident, Rohan, said they were surprised to see him at the night shelters and added that his work is inspiring and admirable.

"We are very surprised to see him here near our homes. I am still unable to believe that he, whom we have seen only on television till now, is present before us. We saw him for the first time in person. The real minister is the one who visit his people. We are very inspired by him and we have decided to stand with the party forever," said Rohan.
Kejriwal, once a protege of veteran anti-graft crusader, Anna Hazare, took oath as the Delhi chief minister along with six other ministers on December 28.
Manish Sisodia, a former journalist, will look after Public Works Department, Urban development, Education, Higher education and Local bodies.
The debutant AAP has to stand upto the people's expectations and focus on fulfilling the poll promise of free water and a massive cut in electricity bills.
Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which emerged from an anti-corruption movement, trounced the ruling Congress party in Delhi in recent polls. But the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party with 32 members.
Congress party, which could manage only eight members in the recently held assembly polls, agreed to give support to AAP to form government that got 28 seats in 70-member Delhi assembly.
However, the BJP refused to form government as it lacked majority.
