Six arrested in Bangalore stalking case

Bangalore Police on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of six people in connection with a stalking case, and added that they are looking into the criminal background of the accused.

Bangalore Police Commissioner M N Reddi said the accused involved in harassing five women on the midnight of November 22 at Mahatma Gandhi road have confessed to their crime.

"There was an incident on the night of the 22nd, on the Mahatma Gandhi road at about 11.50 p.m. midnight, wherein five ladies were in a SUV car which sparked. The driver had gone out to fetch some eatables from a nearby shop or restaurant," said Reddi.

"It was reported that five or six young men approached the car in a menacing manner and tried to open the car forcibly. Accused persons have been interrogated and we are looking into the criminal background of these persons. The individuals have confessed to what they have done and the same will be arrested and produced before the jurisdictional magistrate," he added.

Reddi further said that the ladies, who were seated inside panicked and to protect themselves operated the central lock and started honking using the horn of the car.

"They also video graphed a part of the event as the youngsters approached the car and walked away. They also screamed for help, all this is recorded in their videos done through one of their phones," he added.

The Bangalore Police Commissioner further said that investigation was taken up rapidly in this case.

"And the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) and his team worked tirelessly to detect this particular case. They have succeeded in arresting six persons whose names are Nagesh, Harish and Devraj from Bangalore; Kiran, Satish and Subramani who are the residents of Hosur in Tamil Nadu," he added.
