Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Ashish Khetan has said that slashing of fuel prices was a stunt by the government keeping February 07 Delhi polls in mind.
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said it would cut the retail price of diesel by about 4.7 percent and that of gasoline by 4.1 percent from Wednesday, as global prices have eased since the last revision.
Retail prices of diesel would be cut by rupees 2.25 rupees a litre and that of petrol by rupees 2.42 a litre.
However, Khetan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) showed 'lollipop' to people amid election fever in Delhi.
"This is not a relief for common man. They are just luring ahead of election and when the election will end they will rollback the prices," said Khetan.
This is the tenth cut in the price of fuel since August last, and the sixth in case of diesel since its deregulation in October.
