Former South Africa Test captain Graeme Smith has reportedly questioned England captain Stuart Broad, hinting that the bowler is trying to protect his personal statistics over the interest of the team.

Smith posted on Twitter asking if Broad was trying to protect himself by bowling in the power play or death overs, which he feels the England captain has never done before although he added that he could be mistaken.

According to Sport24, England has suffered World Twenty20 fallout after losing two defeats in three matches, which ended their hope of making it to the semi-finals.

South Africa's recent win over England during their World T20 clash reportedly saw Smith pouring fresh scorn on the English Twenty20 bowler by questioning Broad's captaincy credentials on Twitter.

England lost by three runs in a pulsating Super-10 stage Group One match against South Africa, which ended the semi-final hopes for England, who lost the coveted Ashes in Australia, the report added.
