Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Smriti Irani today slammed her critics for creating a controversy around Teacher's Day.
Irani said, "Those who have lost the elections have a lot of free time on their hands, so they create controversies. People who ruined the country's economy for 10 years are throwing accusations at us."
Yesterday, parties like the Congress and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had slammed the apparent decision to rename Teacher's Day as 'Gurutsav'.
Irani had later clarified that 'Gurutsav' was merely an essay writing competition and the day would continue to be celebrated as 'Teacher's Day'.
