To give a tough fight to Facebook, Snapchat seems to follow the gaming path. The social service is reportedly looking at announcing its long-rumoured gaming platform.
According to Cheddar.com, the purported service, dubbed 'Project Cognac' will be announced for developers next month. The gaming service will feature a handful of games from outside developers designed to work inside the Snapchat app.
In addition to the new games initiative, Snapchat's parent company Snap will also announce more original shows at its first-ever summit for content and developer partners in Los Angeles on April 4.Snap's interest in gaming had been evident with its recent history of acquisitions. Last year, it acquired Prettygreat, an Australian gaming studio, for USD 8.6 million. The company reportedly also acquired a web-based game engine startup called PlayCanvas.
Apart from acquisitions, Snap has also launched its own lightweight AR games for the Snapchat app in early 2018.
