Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay on Tuesday criticized Somnath Bharti's 'safer Delhi for beautiful women' remark, saying the AAP MLA has a prolonged history of making such statements and his attitude towards women has always been derogatory.
"This statement is an insult to women. On one side he talks about women empowerment and on the other hand he makes such insulting comments," he told ANI here.
Upadhyay said the comment reflects Bharti's mentality towards women safety issues in Delhi.
"Who is he to define a woman's beauty and if he does on what basis is he doing it? He has always used the matter of women's safety as a vote bank and to emotionally manipulate the people of Delhi," he said.
Bharti's recent comment that beautiful women would be able to go out at midnight if the AAP Government takes over policing system in the national capital has brought him under the scanner of various political parties, women leaders and activists.
