Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday alleged that Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who compared the RSS and ISIS last week, is mentally deranged and reminded the grand old party that India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru had begged the RSS to participate in the Republic Day parade.
"Ghulam Nabi Azad is Sonia Gandhis' sycophant and is mentally deranged. What if I say Ghulam Nabi Azad is a Muslim and can be considered as a member of ISIS, how would he feel? So I think he should maintain some balance," Swamy told ANI here.
"ISIS, every day we see them chopping people's heads off, They dishonour women in a manner we would not even like to remember, they are barbaric and Azad compared RSS with ISIS. Jawaharlal Nehru once came and begged RSS to participate in the Republic day parade, Lal Bahadur Shastri asked to do so and help in maintaining law and order situation in the country in 1965 when the Pakistan attack took place," he added.
Further praising the RSS, Swamy said that one must never compare the former with a group, which is so atrocious.
Azad, who is the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, had on Saturday kicked a controversy after he sought to draw a parallel between the RSS and ISIS, evoking sharp response from the Hindutva outfit and the BJP, which demanded an apology from him.
