Congress President Sonia Gandhi will on Saturday meet the farmers of Khandwa village in Haryana's Bhiwani district to assess the damage they have suffered due to the recent spell of unseasonal rains.
"Today Soniaji is coming to assess the damage here. We are very happy that she is trying to hear us. We will present her a charter. We are suffering losses of around Rs 28,000 per acre. We are expecting that she will become our voice in the Parliament and help us recover our losses," said a farmer.
"We are expecting a lot from her. Once she raises her voice we may get compensated," said another farmer, Rajkumar.
Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh is also visiting Maharashtra today to take an extensive tour of areas affected by recent heavy rain and hailstorm, accompanied by a team of senior officials and state government officials.
