A Sony executive has confirmed that PlayStation has been plagued by a cyberattack that has been resulting in the network woes since Christmas Day.
According to CNN, Sony's vice president of Consumer Experience Catherine Jensen said that the industry of videogame has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt network and online games.
Jensen said that the PSN engineers have been working to restore the network and online gameplay as soon as possible.
However, Microsoft has not commented on the issues being faced by Xbox saying that the company cannot share information on specific problems.
A hacking group called Lizard Squad had earlier claimed to have caused the problems.
