The United States has imposed new sanctions on North Korea as a response to the country's "provocative, destabilizing and repressive actions" in Sony Pictures' cyberattack incident, said the White House.
According to BBC, U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order that allowed sanctions on three organizations in North Korea and 10 individuals.
The new sanctions, announced on Friday, are believed to be the first ever move by the U.S. to punish a country for cyberattacks on a U.S. company.
The Reconnaissance General Bureau, North Korea's primary intelligence organization and primary arms dealer trading corporation were some of the names mentioned in the new sanctions.
Obama and the FBI have been blaming North Korea for the cyber attack on Sony Pictures while North Korea denies all charges.
