South Korea has rejected Uber's proposal for a new driver registration system claiming that the proposal is in conflict with government policy.
According to PCWorld, the move by the authorities is a reflection of the strict stance the government has taken so far with Uber.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said that Seoul was trying to calm the saturated taxi market and if they adopted the registration system, it would intensify competition and threaten the survival of existing cab services.
The ministry also emphasised that Uber Black and Uber X were "clearly illegal".
