A spa in Pittsburgh allegedly fired a woman employee after she refused to let her co-workers perform a Brazilian wax procedure on her.

The spa employee, Jennifer Finley, has sued the European Wax Center for sexual harassment, wrongful termination, gender discrimination and retaliation, the New York Daily News reported.

Finley, 35, told the publication that no woman should be forced to have a Brazilian wax against her will and certainly no one should be fired for refusing to have one.

Even though Finley knew that she would have to wax off other people's public hair, she said that she felt humiliated last October when she was told it is a mandatory part of the salon's training.

According to the complaint, Finley did not want her colleagues to see or "touch her anus and genitalia".

Her lawyer, Vincent J. Mersich, asserted that his client did not feel comfortable receiving the procedure, particularly by her coworkers.

Mersich said that Finley did view the dynamic of a professional-client relationship as different from one between coworkers.

Finley, who was scheduled to begin menstruating that day, was told by her corporate trainer that she should "put in a fresh tampon and take ibuprofen and she'll be fine".
