Jose Mourinho has revealed he took a pay cut to return to Chelsea as manager because he loves the club, according to reports.
According to the Mirror, the Portuguese coach came back to Stamford Bridge in the summer after successful spells at Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
Mourinho is still the second highest paid manager in world football on 8.37 million pounds a year behind only Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, the report said.
However, he banked over 12 m pounds every season in Spain and Italy, the report added.
Mourinho said that he had other clubs in other countries where it would be easier to go and find an easy job immediately, adding that if he was at Chelsea for financial reasons, he would not be here because he got a lot more money at Real Madrid where he had three more years on his contract.
He even went on to say that it was the worst contract of his last six years but he loved the club and loved the project, as it was a different one.
