Danapur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) R.K. Jha on Sunday said a special train carrying 794 passengers of the Indore-Patna Express has left from Kanpur and is expected to reach Patna by 2 p.m.
"The special train has left Kanpur at 2 a.m. carrying 794 passengers and is expected to reach here till 2 p.m. at night. Our doctors are available on all the major stations to provide all the medical assistance," said Jha.
More than 100 people died and around 150 passengers injured when 14 coaches of the train derailed at around 3 a.m. today near Pukhrayan, about 100 km from Kanpur.
The Railways has announced ex-gratia of 3.5 lakh rupees each for families of those killed, 50,000 rupees for seriously injured and 25 thousand rupees for minor injury.
Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has also ordered an inquiry into the accident. He said the Commissioner, Railway Safety, will inquire into reasons behind the derailment.
