Japan's magnetic levitation bullet train has broken its own record it set last week, by reaching 603 kilometers per hour (375 mph).

Earlier, the maglev train, which is on trial run on an experimental track in Yamanashi prefecture, had broken a world speed record that had stood for 12 years, the Verge reported.

The vehicle is expected to be officially running in 2027, and will operate at a maximum speed of 505 kph (314 mph), which means it'll connect Tokyo with the central city of Nagoya in just about 40 minutes.

Japan has been trying to export the technology across the Pacific, with one proposal sent to the US, to connect Washington DC, Baltimore, and New York City.
