In order to utilize the potential of the youngsters from the north-east and provide them with a platform to polish their skills, several coaching camps and championships are being conducted here on a regular basis.
Nearly 70 potential players form Jorhat district participated in a 10-day long Summer Table Tennis Coaching Camp held at Kushal Konwar Indoor Stadium in Jorhat.
The camp was sponsored by the Oil and Natural Gas Cooperation (ONGC) with an aim to discover the hidden talent of the budding players from the region.
"We have different groups like learner group, beginner group and advance table tennis group in this camp. Our main motto is to produce national and international TT players," said Shrutikar Bora, the coach.
"This camp is giving us really nice technique, nice workout, nice exercise and everything new which we haven't got before. So, I am really loving this camp and one day I want to become an Indian champion this is my aim," said Rupanjyoti Borah, one of the participant players.
The youth in Assam are also learning skills in outdoor sports like football.

Recently, the third All Assam Girls under-17 district level football championship was held at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.
Players from 14 districts of Assam participated in the championship held under the aegis of Directorate of Sports and Welfare, Assam.
Udalguri school, the winner of this event, will now participate in the Subroto Cup to be held in September in Delhi.
"This is mainly for the promotion of football among the girls and actually winner team will participate in Subroto Cup tournament in New Delhi and now we will give them a coaching training for one month before going to New Delhi," said Anjan Sharma, Director of Sports and Welfare, Assam.
"I'm very happy. This is the third time that we are playing here last two times we were the runners up but this time we are the winner and we will play in Subroto Cup now. We have been trying to play in Subroto Cup and we are happy that we have finally made it possible," said Ruhi Orang, a player.
