Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday said that Australian Cricketer Philip Hughes' death from a fatal head injury was very unfortunate.
"I pray to the Almighty for his eternal peace, this is a very unfortunate thing to happen," Sonowal told reporters here.
Cricket expert Charu Sharma also expressed regret over the incident but stated that there shouldn't be any changes in the game.
"It was a freak accident, but the bowler shouldn't be targetted; there should be no change in the game," said Sharma.
Twenty-five-year-old Hughes passed away today after being struck by a bouncer bowled by pacer Sean Abbot at the Sydney Cricket Ground Oval on Tuesday.
The South Australian batsman, who was pushing for a Test recall against India in Brisbane next week, was knocked out after the ball made impact under his helmet behind his left ear.
Hughes had been in a critical condition in intensive care since Tuesday afternoon.
