Nagi, a tiny border village in Sriganganagar, is filled with excitement as this grateful village gears up to extend a befitting honour to the 'Saviours of Nagi' - Soldiers of Indian Army who made the supreme sacrifice during Indo - Pak War of 1971 to recapture territory occupied by Pakistan after the ceasefire.
On the 43rd Anniversary of this historic event, one week 'Nagi Vijay Diwas', a tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives to safeguard the village is being co-hosted by Sapta Shakti Command, Chetak Corps and villagers of Nagi.
As build up to the main event series of lectures and presentation recounting the Nagi battle Saga are being made in vaious schools and universities by Amogh Division to instil patriotism and attract the youth of Sriganganagar to join the armed forces.
A sand art show on December 27 will bring alive the battlefield of 1971 Nagi operation.
The battle was fought by 4 PARA Battalion supported by 9 PARA Field Regiment and 410 Field Company of 51 Parachute Brigade.
The grand culmination of 'Nagi Vijay Diwas' events will be the wreath laying function and battlefield tour which will take place at 'Nagi War Memorial' on December 28.

The monument is revered as a temple and shrine by the local community.
The events on December 28 will include a Para Motor display, wreath laying at War Memorial by Lt.Gen. P M Hariz, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Chetak Corps and Maj. Gen. T.S. Handa (Retd) of 4 PARA Battalion alongwith senior state government functionaries, cultural programme and Bhandara.
During the event rose petals will be showered over the memorial from the air. The entire village will be witness to this show and will pay their homage to the martyrs.
The event will be graced by many veterans and serving soldiers of 4 PARA Battalion, 9 PARA Field Regiment and 410 Field Company who were responsible for the resounding victory at Nagi.
