Sri Lanka Economic Summit begins in Colombo

Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2015, an annual event organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), will begin in Colombo today.

The two-day summit under the title 'Towards Exports of USD 50 billion' will be held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel with an overall participation of over 450 people.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session, while Samantha Ranatunga, Chairman of the CCC, will deliver the welcome address.

The summit will consist of eight sessions, covering the most important economic sectors of the country with government policymakers, top economists, sector-based professionals from both public and private sector, political leaders and academicians joining as resource persons.

During the two-day event, the planned eight sessions will focus on areas such as 'National Vision: Policy Implementation and Perspective', 'A New Global Economic Strategy for Sri Lanka', 'Driving Exports - Use of Social Media and Technology', 'Challenges In and Opportunities For Financing of Exports', 'Championing Value Addition in Agri Exports', 'Sustainability-Led Export Growth', 'Going Up the Value Chain - Export of Knowledge Services' and will conclude with a CEO's forum.

President Maithripala Sirisena will address the participants during the summit's closing session, aided by Rajendra Theagarajah, Vice Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, who will offer his closing remarks.
